I've got my spine

I've got my Orange Meth.

Yes, this is a nod to R.E.M.

And no, Orange Meth is not an overpriced designer drug baggie.

Nah, this is the blog of a United Methodist, born out of two distinct moments at this year's New England Annual Conference.   1st, a techie friend who keeps his stubby digits on the keyboards - and pulse - of at least 4 different blogs insisted I should have one (and given he's our resident internets-whisperer, I figure I better stay on his good side).

2nd, after three years of knowing that the retiree speeches are my favorite part of Annual Conference, it finally hit me that I don't want to wait until my retirement to say what's *really* on my mind.

So, let the fun begin.
As a United Methodist, there's definitely some method to my madness, so hang with me a bit and we'll get around to what the Apples - and the Orange Meth - are all about.

For now, I've got my spine and I'm not waiting till retirement - or even ordination - to see what kinds of truth can spill out onto these pages.  At the same time, the R.E.M. song I'm riffing off of deals with the use of Agent Orange in Vietnam through the eyes of a US serviceman, and I'll keep remembering that it's easy to hurt and devastate people - even when we think we're serving justice (or even just doing the right thing).
